Round-leafed bamboo grass, also known as *Pterocarpus* or *Pterophyllaceae*, is a perennial herb that typically grows between 40 cm and 60 cm tall. It features rhizomes from which green petioles emerge directly, supporting large, thin-leathery leaves that are ovoid in shape. New leaves are bright green, while older ones take on a blue-green hue. Along the lateral veins, the leaves display neatly arranged silver-gray stripes, and their edges have a slight undulating texture. Native to tropical regions of the Americas, this plant thrives in warm, humid, and partially shaded environments. It is sensitive to cold and drought, and should be protected from direct sunlight and dry, hot winds. The ideal growing temperature ranges from 18°C to 25°C. The soil should remain consistently moist but not waterlogged. High air humidity is essential, especially during the growth of new leaves. Regular misting helps prevent leaf margins from drying out and ensures proper leaf expansion. Too much light can cause the leaf edges to become blurry, while insufficient light may reduce the visibility of the silver-gray stripes, affecting its ornamental value. Place it in a bright, indirect light area. To maintain its appearance, you can gently wipe the leaves with a damp, soft cloth. During the active growth period, apply a diluted organic liquid fertilizer or a foliage-specific fertilizer every 20 days. In winter, ensure the plant receives adequate light, and keep temperatures above 12°C. Stop fertilizing and reduce watering slightly, keeping the soil just moist. Resume regular care when new leaves begin to grow in spring. Repot every other year using a well-draining, loose, and fertile soil mix rich in humus. A combination of leaf mold, peat, and a small amount of coarse sand or perlite works well. Propagation is best done through rhizome cuttings. When separating new shoots, make sure each section has enough leaves and strong roots. Plant them shallowly so the roots are fully covered but not buried too deep, as this can hinder sprout growth. Keep the soil slightly moist and mist the leaves regularly to increase humidity. Wait until new roots develop before giving a full watering.
