Urea is a non-protein nitrogen feed additive. It is digested by beneficial microorganisms in the rumen of ruminants and uses synthetic bacterial protein to provide high quality protein to ruminants. There are two points to pay attention to in summer applications: (1) Whether urease. The lush green feeds that thrive in the summer such as hedgehog leaves, amorpha leaves, red clover, alfalfa, and pumpkin all contain urease. On the one hand, urease meets urea in the rumen, which can rapidly decompose urea, release ammonia in large amounts, inhibit beneficial microorganisms, and cannot reproduce in large quantities, and therefore cannot provide a large amount of bacterial proteins. On the other hand, large amounts of ammonia absorbed by ruminants can cause ruminant poisoning. (2) The level of crude protein content. When the content of crude protein in feed is below 11%, the utilization rate of urea is the highest, and the effect of promoting weight gain is the best. When the content exceeds 12%, the utilization rate of urea is very low. Not only can it not promote weight gain, but it can reduce weight gain, which is not worth the candle. In summer, the crude protein content of fresh grasses and pastures is not high, less than 11%, and has no effect on urea. However, the crude protein content of some forage dry powders is mostly over 12%. For example, the crude protein content of dried alfalfa powder is 16.7%, the 17.82% for alfalfa leaf powder, and 22.3% for dry powder of Ziyunying, which will destroy the normal use of urea. effect. According to the above two points, the application of urea in summer must be avoided and the use of urea must be carefully applied.
