The four elements of a successful fermentation bed

Many of our friends already have a good understanding of the pigs raised in fermentation beds. But when using Jinpo pigpen fermentation beds, what should you be aware of? The key to whether the fermentation bed works well lies in the microbial activity within it. Several factors influence this activity, which can be divided into internal and external causes. The internal cause mainly relates to the activity level of the microorganisms themselves. Our Jinpo fermentation bed additives contain powerful functional strains with high vitality. Users who use these additives don’t need to worry about internal issues — the microbes are strong and efficient. Now, let’s look at the external factors that affect microbial activity: 1. **Temperature**: Functional bacteria grow and reproduce most rapidly between 10-15°C. If the temperature drops below 5°C, they enter a dormant state. In such cases, artificial heating is usually needed to restart the process. Once the fermentation generates enough heat, the temperature will stabilize on its own. 2. **Humidity**: The optimal moisture content for the functional bacteria is between 50-60%. If it's too low, their activity slows down. If it's too high, poor ventilation can occur. Maintaining this humidity range not only supports microbial activity but also ensures a comfortable environment for the pigs. 3. **Nutritional Composition**: The litter contains a lot of lignin, which provides a rich carbon source for the functional bacteria. Pig waste offers nitrogen and minerals, helping the bacteria multiply quickly and break down organic matter, reducing odors effectively. 4. **Oxygen Supply**: The top layer of the litter, often made of sawdust, is loose and allows good air circulation. This ensures sufficient oxygen for the microbes. However, if the litter becomes compacted due to pressure, time, or foreign materials, you can manually loosen it or make small holes to improve ventilation. All these factors have been carefully considered and addressed in the design of the Jinpo fermentation bed. So, do you still worry about your fermentation bed? There’s no need to. With proper care, the fermentation bed will work smoothly. Your pigs will thrive in such a clean and healthy environment — and they’ll definitely enjoy their meal!
