Loach seed cultivation and management techniques

After the seedlings are broken, they are placed in cages for initial recovery. Each group of 100,000 seedlings is fed cooked egg yolk 2-3 times a day. Once they become fully free-swimming, they can be transferred to the lower pool. The cultivation techniques are as follows: First, suitable cement ponds or small soil areas are selected. A layer of 10–15 cm thick fertilizer mud is spread at the bottom of the cement pools. After soaking and rinsing with fresh water several times, the pools are disinfected using either 112 g of quicklime or 1 g of bleaching powder per square meter. A basal fertilizer of 1.5 kg per cubic meter is added, and after filling with new water, the pool turns green. The seedlings are introduced only after the medicinal properties have disappeared. Second, the stocking density should be maintained at 400–500 per square meter, with a water depth of 30–50 cm. Each nursery pond should be filled with seedlings that hatched on the same day to avoid size differences, which can lead to cannibalism. The seedlings are raised for 20–30 days, and when they reach about 4 cm in length, the pond should be divided to reduce the density. Third, fertilization management is crucial. After fertilization, large branches may appear, and these aphids can cause some damage. However, increasing the fertilizer amount helps accelerate phytoplankton growth, which in turn suppresses the development of aphids. The water transparency should be kept between 15–20 cm. If needed, fertilizer can be applied quickly. When the water temperature is low, 2 grams of ammonium nitrate per cubic meter is used, while 2.5 grams of urea is applied when the temperature is high. This should be done once a day, or even 2–3 times if necessary. Fourth, water quality management is essential. Fresh water should be added or the water changed within the first 15 days. Seedlings are sensitive to sudden changes in water temperature, which can lead to their death. Especially in small earthen or cement ponds, where temperature fluctuations between day and night are significant, it's important to manage the environment. Duckweed can be planted to provide a cooler area where seedlings can gather under its roots. Fifth, feeding begins immediately after the seedlings are removed from the cage. They should be fed regularly to meet their growth needs. Based on the availability of natural food, cooked egg yolk, soy milk, fish meal, and powdered feed should be given. The feeding amount should be enough for them to finish within an hour, and this should be done multiple times a day.
