Film mulching has been widely adopted in the cultivation of various crops, but the environmental concerns caused by plastic films have increasingly restricted its long-term use. After nearly two years of development and over a hundred field trials, the technical team at 552 Farms in the Heilongjiang Reclamation Area successfully developed the "OM-1" film removal machine. This device is specifically designed for the seedling stage, with the optimal working period occurring between late June and early July. The timing was carefully chosen because, after mid-July, the region enters a hot and rainy season, and leaving the plastic film in the field during this time can reduce soil permeability. At this point, the film has not yet fully aged, maintaining its structural integrity, which helps minimize mechanical tearing and improves the efficiency of film removal.
The OM-1 machine features a highly reliable film-breaking function, with a net removal rate of 100% and zero injury rate. It offers high productivity, low cost, and an impressive hourly output of 5,800 square meters—16 times faster than manual labor. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to operate, and it can be easily attached to small tractors ranging from 12 to 30 horsepower. The machine is versatile, capable of performing multiple tasks such as tilling, ridge making, and soil flipping in one go. With its strong adaptability and adjustable film width, the OM-1 is well-suited for a variety of agricultural conditions, making it a promising tool for sustainable farming practices. Its potential for widespread adoption in modern agriculture is significant, especially as the industry continues to seek efficient and eco-friendly solutions.
