Duck plague and duck cholera are two infectious diseases that endanger the duck industry. Duck plague is caused by viral infection. Duck cholera is caused by Pasteurella multocida. Both diseases have elevated body temperature, apathy, featheriness, and other symptoms. There is currently no effective drug treatment for duck gizzards, and duck cholera is very effective with drugs. Therefore, the duck group should be diagnosed according to the distinctive features of the two diseases and take corresponding measures for treatment.
First, diagnosis
1. See the condition. Duck dumplings are widely endemic, and their illness is slow and their death is slow. Duck cholera is sporadic and comes quickly. It dies faster.
2. Infection. Duck quail is not easily transmitted to pigs, chickens, geese and other animals, while duck cholera is highly contagious.
3. Look at the head and neck. Ducks make swollen duck heads and swollen necks (the masses call them head lice): The cholera head is not swollen and the neck is not swollen, but often shakes his head (the masses also shake their heads).
4. Look at the feet. Duck licks soft feet, also known as soft fins, duck cholera is only joint swelling limping.
5. Look at the crop. The duck pimple is empty and there is no object, and it feels soft when the hand touches it; the duck cholera meal is full of food, and the hand feels hard and firm.
6. Look at the anus. Duck plague anal congestion, bleeding, edema, severe mucosal exposure: duck cholera does not have these conditions.
7. Look at feces. Duck puffer pull white, gray or copper green feces: duck cholera pull light red or brown odor faeces, often contaminated outside the cloacal feathers.
Second, prevention
1. Duck cholera: 1 sulfamethazine or long-acting sulfamethoxamide, each duck oral 0.2 to 0.3 grams, once a day, and even served 3 days, or by 0.5 to 1% of the proportion of mixed feed fed 3 to 5 days. 2 penicillin, each adult duck intramuscular injection of 3 to 50,000 units, once every 4 hours injection, used 3 times. 3 oxytetracycline, add 0.05 to 0.1% in feed or each duckling serving 0.15 to 0.3 grams per day for 2 to 3 days, or intramuscular injection of 25 mg per kilogram of body weight, 2 times a day for 2 consecutive days, or each Kg body weight 40 mg orally once daily for 3 to 4 days. 4 streptomycin, 100,000 units per intramuscular injection, once daily. In the treatment of sick ducks, it can also be used for emergency vaccination of inactivated bacteriophage propolis vaccine, for 3 consecutive days, a significant effect on the control of the epidemic.
2. Duck quail: Inject duck quail vaccine, this vaccine can quickly make the duck body produce immunity, not only in ducks threatened by duck plague. Even in the diseased duck population, emergency vaccination can be performed. Attention should be paid to any clinical symptoms. When the body temperature rises above 42.5°C, it should not be injected. The usage and dosage of the vaccine were marked according to the bottle label, diluted 200 times with physiological saline, and injected into the duck pectoral muscle by 1 milliliter, or liter. Newborn ducks diluted the vaccine 50-fold, injected 0.25 ml in the leg muscle, and immunized for 3 to 4 days. The immunity of ducks over 2 months old can be 9 months, and that of newborn ducks is 1 month. Therefore, the newborn ducks should be immunized again after 3 months. It is not suitable for use with dysplastic ducks. Purebred ducks should first observe a small amount of seed and then expand their use after no reaction.
