How to Prevent Diesel Engine Cylinder Cracking in Winter

Causes: 1. Add cooling water after starting. After the diesel engine is started, the temperature inside the engine immediately rises. If cooling water is added at this time, the cylinder block and the cylinder head will cool rapidly and cracks will occur due to shrinkage. 2. After shutdown, no cooling water was put. The water in the machine freezes into ice and the volume increases, causing the cylinder block and the cylinder head to burst. 3, long-term operation of the diesel engine, the high temperature inside, put the high temperature water immediately after parking. Can cause hot parts to encounter cold air and crack. 4, when the diesel engine is running, the cooling water is insufficient or the temperature of the water tank casserole is too high, suddenly adding cooling water. Cooling and shrinkage of the cylinder block and cylinder head can also cause cracking. 5. Use the decompressor to stop the machine, so that the high temperature cylinder head suddenly encounters cold air and causes cracking.

Prevention method: 1, before starting the diesel engine, warm water should be added to the water tank, and hot water should be poured 2-3 times in the winter season. It is better to start the water flowing out of the water discharge valve at about 30-50°C. 2. When the diesel engine runs for a long time, it should wait about half an hour after stopping, and then put the cooling water when the temperature drops to 40-50°C. After the water is released, it is best to use a thin wire to open the water valve to prevent the sediment from blocking the drain valve. 3. If the diesel engine runs overheated and there is a serious shortage of water, the diesel engine should be allowed to idle for 10-15 minutes at low speed, and then slowly add cooling water.
