Caffeine and exercise combine to fight skin cancer
Recent research shows that drinking coffee and combining proper exercise can reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Through experiments on experimental mice, it was found that exercise stimulation and caffeine feeding not only reduced the risk of skin tumors in mice by 62%, but also reduced tumor size in mice with cancer by approximately 82%.
Professor Yao-Ping Lu, of the Ernesto Rutgers University School of Pharmacy in New Jersey, USA, who is the principal responsible person for the study, said: “This coffee-and-athletic therapy can reduce animal over-exposure to solar ultraviolet rays. With the risk of skin cancer caused by radiation, we believe this therapy will also be suitable for humans."
Researchers fed experimental mice with a certain amount of caffeine and then forced them to move on rolling wheels for a while. Both caffeine and exercise are good for animals, but their combined effect is far greater than the sum of their effects.
Caffeine alone can reduce the number of tumors in cancer-bearing mice by approximately 27%, and the size of tumors also decreases by approximately 61%; in only cancer-bearing mice undergoing exercise, the number of tumors in vivo decreases by approximately 35%, and the tumor size Also reduced by about 70%.
It is unclear why this effect has been produced, but Professor Yao-Ping Lu suspects that it is likely to be related to inflammation, because the inflammation in the mice after exercise therapy has been reduced by about 92%.
