How to Cultivate Big-size Aleuviruses

In recent years, the market has become increasingly selective when it comes to squid specifications. The traditional single-tail size of 250 grams is no longer in demand, and instead, larger commercial squid weighing over 400 grams have gained popularity. To meet this growing demand, the key lies in cultivating large-sized silver carp species. This requires a series of well-planned strategies. First, selecting high-quality fry is crucial. The female parent should be from the authentic Heilongjiang Fangzheng strain, while the male should come from the Jiangxi Xingguo Red Dragonfly breed. The females should weigh at least 400 grams, and the males should be over 1 kilogram. Fry stocking should take place before April 20 (in the Yangtze River Valley), and the summer flower pond preparation should be completed by the end of May. Second, proper thinning of the stock is essential. When breeding a specific fish species, it's recommended to stock 4,000 to 5,000 silver crucian carp per acre. However, delaying the stocking time and reducing the number of species can help improve growth rates. For main breeding ponds, only about 2,000 crucian carp per acre are needed. Stocking should be postponed until after August 10. In some cases, small amounts of grasshoppers (around 500 per mu) can also be raised in Tangkou depending on conditions. This method helps the fish reach 80-100 grams by the time they are harvested. Third, feeding management must be strengthened. After the fry and summer flowering stages, consistent care is necessary. High-protein pellet feed should be provided regularly, and fish diseases should be monitored and treated promptly. Water quality should remain clean, fresh, and cool. During winter, as long as the ponds are not frozen, a small amount of bait should be given every other day to ensure the fish stay healthy and do not suffer from malnutrition. By following these steps, farmers can successfully cultivate large-sized commercial fish that meet current market demands and achieve better economic returns.
