The number of malaria cases in Shanghai decreases by more than 30% every year

The newspaper (Reporter Chen Qing) is today the fourth National Malaria Day. The latest data released by the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau yesterday showed that in the past five years, the number of cases of malaria in the city has dropped by 30% to 40% each year. In 2010, the number of cases of malaria found in the city was more than 40, of which 65% were infected in foreign countries, with Africa being the largest, followed by Southeast Asia.

It is reported that in Shanghai, malaria was highly prevalent. In the early 60s of the last century, the annual incidence rate exceeded 3000/100,000. According to the goal set by the Chinese government to eliminate malaria by 2020, the city put forward the goal of eliminating malaria in 2015 last year.
